No Borders at Nottingham MAYDAY 2010

Meet No Borders activists and find literature on our stall at the annual Mayday celebrations in Nottingham on 1st May 2010, this year moved to Victoria Park, Bath Street – near the Victoria Leisure Centre (which the City Council has just closed) and near Sneinton Market. Assemble at 11 am. There will be a march leaving Victoria Park at 12 for Speaker’s Corner (Clough statue), returning to Victoria Park for music, stalls, speakers and more. Small World Cafe – Kurdish Cuban night – Thursday 6th May 2010

On Thursday 6th May Small World Cafe is organising a Kurdish Cuban night to celebrate International Workers Day. There will be wonderful Kurdish food (served at 7pm) and it will be followed at 8pm by the film Che (part 1). Any money raised will go towards Cuba Solidarity and NNRF’s Tuesday Night Project’.

Nottingham 8th April: ‘Who wants to be a Zimbabwean Trillionaire?’ UK Citizenship Test!

Come to the Square Centre on 8th April 2010 and take part in the ‘Who wants to be a Zimbabwean Trillionaire’ UK Citizenship Test, first prize 100 Trillion Zimbabwean dollars. Food is at 7pm, Quiz at 8pm.
Like last year’s ‘Who wants to be a Zimbabwean Billionare’ the quiz is based on the UK Citizenship Test. Find whether you are suitable for living in UK. Small World Cafe ‘Algerian Night’ at the Square Centre, Nottingham – March 18th

Small World Cafe invites you to “Algerian Night” food and film evening on Thursday, March 18th at 7:00pm at:
The Square Centre, Alfred Street North (near top of Huntingdon Street), Nottingham, NG3 1AA.They will be serving traditional Algerian food including a vegan option from 7pm (recommended donation £4 vegan / £5 meat) , and the tea and coffee bar will be serving a range of teas and refreshments from 50p. Film ‘Battle of Algiers’ starts around 8pm. The previous Afghan and Mongolian nights have been a great success so get there early if you want food.

Nawroz New Year Party in Nottingham – Sunday 21st March 2010

This year’s Nawroz (New years Celebrated in Kurdistan, Iran and Afghanistan) New Year Party is being organised by Nottingham Refugee Forum’s ‘Tuesday Night Project’ but it’s not on Tuesday. It’s on Sunday 21st March from 5.30pm at The Pakistan Centre, 163 Woodborough Road, Nottingham. The night will include live music & delicious food from Afghanistan Iran & Kurdistan. No Borders reopen Kronstadt Hangar in Calais

At 10am today, the No Borders network officially reopened the Kronstad Hangar in Calais to the migrant population. This follows the first public opening on Saturday 6th February, and the subsequent violent police eviction the following day .
