This week, Thurs 29th April 2010, Small World Cafe have a fund-raiser for Nottingham City of Sanctuary. Iranian volunteers from Nottingham Refugee Forum are cooking the food, which will be served at 7pm (for recommended donation £4/£5). This is followed by the film Moving to Mars at 8pm Recommend donation for food. As usual SMC is at The Square Centre, Alfred St. North just off the top of Huntington St. Nottingham. Small World Cafe invites you to “Algerian Night” food and film evening on Thursday, March 18th at 7:00pm at: The Square Centre, Alfred Street North (near top of Huntingdon Street), Nottingham, NG3 1AA.They will be serving traditional Algerian food including a vegan option from 7pm (recommended donation £4 vegan / £5 meat) , and the tea and coffee bar will be serving a range of teas and refreshments from 50p. Film ‘Battle of Algiers’ starts around 8pm. The previous Afghan and Mongolian nights have been a great success so get there early if you want food.
The first in the new series of Small World Cinema food & film showings is on Wednesday 23rd September at the Sumac Centre, 245 Gladstone St, Forest Fields. The event is organised by Afghan users of the Nottingham and Notts Refugee Forum and any profits go to pay for the Afghan party there on 23rd October.

The next Small World Cinema event at the Sumac Centre is on Wednesday 25th March which is a few days after Kurdish New Year (‘Nawroz’, which means New Day). A Kurdish refugee will show a film and provide Kurdish Vegan Food (he’s a very good cook!). Gather for food and bar from 7pm; presentation and films from 7.30.
